Detective mystery writing at its best.  Amato's female detective is Jasmine Steele, who had an ideal life doing what she loved best until tragedy struck. Her brother and sister-in-law were killed in a tragic accident. She is now the guardian of her seven-year-old nephew.

Jasmine is having trouble adjusting to her grief and new responsibilities. Worried, sad and scared of doing something wrong, she doesn't have the energy or self-confidence to keep her relationship with police detective Jazz alive. But now, more than ever, she could use the support and understanding of a fellow detective and friend.

Bodies are starting to pile up and Jasmine and her nephew Chase are threatened. It looks like the recent murders may even be related to her brother's death. Jasmine has to find out who's responsible while keeping her nephew safe. 

The plot twists and action fly in this female-driven detective mystery series. This is book one, and if it's any indication this is going to be a must read series for lovers of the detective mystery genre.
