Snippet from "Shadow Walkers"He hurried back and began wrapping the cord around Lydia’s right forearm, binding it to the chair. “Wait, what do you think you’re doing?” Tessa cried out. Sabina grabbed his sleeve and cried, “Let her go!” He jerked away and snapped, “It’s not me that’s got her!” They both stepped back in surprise as the chair suddenly levitated four feet into the air, with Lydia now out of Tessa’s reach. I hope you enjoyed the snippet from this scary story! I love Halloween, personally (who wouldn't like extra treats?), and I especially like my friend "Fang" even though Elizabeth said his howls are battery operated and there aren't any real live dogs that have only bones and no skin or fur (What she doesn't know won't hurt her, I guess). Continuing from my last WIP post, I will be adding a snippet that introduces an important new character to my Shadow Walkers story, Father Benjamin. She hadn’t let the child out of her sight since they recovered her, and had repeatedly thanked Sabina for helping her get her baby back. That seemed understandable to Sabina. What Tessa hadn’t done was ask about the jinn, and Sabina found that to be as odd as the fact that Lydia was now grabbing handfuls of cereal from the bowl and jamming them into her mouth until her checks resembled a chipmunk. A knock sounded as Tessa grabbed Lydia’s hand with alarm and said, “Lydia, stop that this minute!” Sabina hurried from the small sitting room, wondering as she walked toward the hallway doors what lasting trauma her godchild faced. The left door suddenly opened, allowing a hooded Jesuit to step into the suite’s antechamber. Ignoring her outstretched hand, he rushed past her toward the sound of shattering glass behind her, which was followed by Tessa’s shocked cry of, “Lydia! What are you doing?” I was about to find a paddle for all the rain in my backyard right now, but here's no sense getting my beautiful hair all wet and messy. Instead of going outside, I posted Elizabeth's short story snippet. I hope you enjoyed it. Be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors and Snippet Sunday authors for more great snippets!

I am going to continue with that same story this week. The petite redhead fairly exploded into the room amidst a swirl of canary chiffon and whiffs of soft floral, the cheery adornment in stark contrast to the ravaged look on her upturned oval face. Dark mascara ran down a ghostly palette where streaks had been smudged across high, sun-freckled cheekbones by repeated attempts, like the one she performed now, to still the rivulets of tears. “Oh, Sabina. Thank the goddess you are home,” Tessa declared, throwing herself into Sabina’s waiting arms and sobbing brokenly. “Shhh. What has you so hysterical, Tess?” Sabina asked, trying to sound calm above the shuddering mass of soft copper curls pressed against her shoulder, though her friend’s unusual behavior terrified her, making her dread the answer to her own question. Why didn’t I call her earlier when I felt that all wasn’t right with her? She stiffened as her earlier premonition manifested itself into a sudden vision of Lydia, her six-year-old goddaughter and Tessa’s only child, crouched in a dark room. No, not a room, underground, a cavern of some kind. Hudson here! Thank goodness for air conditioning. I don't know how outside doggies stand it. It was 107 degrees and just taking care of business was too long to be out in this heat. I hope you enjoyed the snippet I posted for Elizabeth today. She reached for the talisman around his neck and said, “Luck? No, brother, not luck. You are protected by love, the most powerful shield of all.” He grinned down at her. “No one can ever take that away from us. Speaking of love, how’s father?” “Worried about you, of course.” “Let’s go. I have some explaining to do.” He wasn’t looking forward to that, either. His father was less likely to overlook his interaction with Queen Isis after he had already escaped from the Vargas clan once. Following his sister, he stepped into the elevator. I hope you enjoyed the snippet I posted for Elizabeth. She said I won't be able to post next week because we'll all be too busy with the Tucson Festival of Books and house guests, which I hope means extra treats! I'm sharing from my WIP again, Book II of my Illuminati Series, The Tree of Life. The Vargas family has sent Luc and Kirin to meet with the "Shapeshifter" faction, in Sedona AZ, their stronghold. Rio's sister, Seraphina, knows of it before he does, because he has just arrived in Sedona.
“You’ve had a vision. Tell me.” He knew what she was going to say and he dreaded it. His coming here may have been a mistake. Should he leave? Was he putting them all in danger, or was it necessary for him to stay and help protect them? The bitch would probably find them wherever they tried to hide. Better that they were on their home turf.
“It’s Isis. She’s found us, and they’re coming.” “Isis?” “No, no I think she has sent some of her children to find you, Rio. How does she know about you?” “This is all my fault,” Rio confessed.
I hope you enjoyed the snippet I posted for Elizabeth. Sorry it's late, but she has me running around organizing boxes of books and other goodies for something called the Tucson Festival of Books. She thinks 130,000 plus people go there for books, but I heard they have a lot of good food there, so I know why they're really there! I won't tell her though, since it would probably hurt her feelings.

Again I am sharing from my new release, Stolen Secrets. Last week it was a steamy scene, so this week, I chose something a little different.
“So they literally believed Isis was with them, a goddess who could walk among them and interact with them,” Elsa said.
“Of course,” David and Muhktar said together, then looked at each other and chuckled. Isabella glanced between them. Their tone had been more than affirmative. It sounded as though they too believed Isis was a very real, literal entity and were surprised at Elsa’s questioning of that fact. Rumors sometimes tied Prince Muhktar to the Illuminati, a secret cult known to exist since at least the time of the Pharaohs who built the pyramids. Until this moment, she had always dismissed those rumors as passed along by those wishing to cast even more mystique on the infamous persona of one of the country’s wealthiest and certainly most eligible bachelors. The Illuminati itself was an organization which, though it had certainly existed since she herself had seen ancient artifacts whose writings and symbolisms supported its existence in Egypt, was unable to be tied to any one deity, purpose or era. Illuminati was a word most often whispered with respect, almost reverence, among the superstitious Egyptians, as though it still existed and was to be feared. Could those rumors be true? What might it have to do with this artifact they sought?
I hope you like the snippet I shared for Elizabeth this week. She has been sick with food poisoning this week so did very little for three days and never even got out of bed for two of them. Personally I'm not a fan of seafood, so she should just stick to my food from now on. Be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors and Snippet Sunday authors for more great reads.

I will be sharing from my new release Stolen Secrets again, because the launch is Tuesday, Valentine's Day!
He lowered her, letting her feet return to the sand, her sanity to the moment.
“Isa--” “I’m here,” she called, and pushed against his chest, for leverage and mental stability. What should I say? she wondered, confused and still breathless from his torrid kisses. She’d never been kissed that way before, not by anyone. Her undeniable attraction to him was primitive. He awoke raw desire within her until she was so lost in the feelings her brain stopped controlling her actions. The prince was dangerous, on so many levels. She could tell that he, too, was moved by their exchange. His chest rose and fell swiftly and his hand lingered on the curve of her buttock. The intensity of his stare unnerved her, eyes darkened by lust, lips parted with soft puffs of air matching the rhythmic swell of his rib cage. Running from her own uncertainty, she turned to shore and waded quickly toward the sound of Elsa’s voice.
I hope you liked the snippet I posted this week for Elizabeth. So much to do for this book launch, I almost forgot to send a Valentine to Giada, my bestest doggie friend ever! Offered an enormous sum by an anonymous benefactor for the acquisition of an ancient ceremonial relic, a sum that would keep the antiquities shop in Cairo her father left her afloat while she continued her own archaeological pursuits, Lady Isabella Valentine was distracted rather than tempted, then suspicious, when the dashing young Bedouin slipped in just before closing and promised her a deal she couldn’t refuse--for the very same relic. Despite his sensual appeal, she did refuse him, sending him away.
Prince Mukhtar, son of Sheikh Abdul Kummel al-Rahman, leader of the Hassana, is on a sacred Illuminati mission for Queen Isis to retrieve something stolen from one of her temples over a thousand years ago. This mortal disbeliever though an enchanting English rose, however beautiful she might be, is clearly in the power of the Usurper and must be persuaded to help him, one way or another. But neither of them know of the evil power they are up against, or what hidden dangers await them in the tomb of the high priest.

Pulling the collar of his robe up, he saw Isabella tug the edges of her own robe closer, and then she tightened the belt. Had the temperature dropped? No, not possible at this depth. Despite the added lights, the room seemed darker. The shadows cast by the assortment of statues fought against the light’s intrusion until the bulbs flickered and dimmed, and once more they began to dominate the chamber. Popping sounds were followed by the distinct crackle of shattered glass as an unseen hand snuffed out what remained of the artificial illumination.
The sepulcher was filled with subtle movement as though the darkness had been awakened to their presence and resented it. He caught movement out of the corner of his eye, but when he spun to confront the attacker—and he now felt besieged by threat—no one and nothing was there. He sensed movement overhead, and looked up. Seeing nothing again, he fished his lantern from his belt and his gun from a cargo pocket on the side of his pant leg.
I hope you enjoyed the snippet I posted for Elizabeth today. It's such a relief to be out of the spotlight, like I was in her last post. Don't forget to sign up for all the goodies in her rafflecopter below and snap up a copy of Stolen Secrets! Visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors and Snippet Sunday Authors for more great reads!

We'll go on from there... “Rio,” she said, rushing headlong into his arms to be swung around and then hugged close. “Seraphina, I’ve missed you,” he said, stepping back to take a look at her. Golden eyes, much like his own, glistened with excitement at their reunion and accentuated her sun-kissed skin. Her hair, darker than his, hung to her waist and held a mahogany sheen his keen eyes picked up even in the faint light provided by the open elevator door. “Stunning as ever. Am I in time to beat down any aggressive curs?” “Ever the big brother,” she countered, laughing. “Thank the stars you are home at last.” Her look sobered and she grew serious. “Trouble is coming, Rio. We are in terrible danger.” I hope you enjoyed the snippet I posted for Elizabeth today. I like the twisty trees in Sedona. They make me want to chase them, but I am too busy looking in the mirror right now. I went to the groomer today and if I do say so myself, I look very handsome. Elizabeth thinks it's a little short and asked me if I had joined the military. I posted her book trailer below. Stolen Secrets is now available on preorder (whatever that is)! As Kirin tries to convince her mother there's no reason to suspect she knows anything at all about Rio, Rio is headed home to rejoin his family and, he hopes, keep them safe from Queen Isis. Rising like buoyant survivors, the water-soothed sandstone glowed beneath the hardened lava caps that threatened to topple the determined escarpments. Ageless despite their hidden frailty, the bold celebration of sunset masked a secret mystery within the Sedona landscape. The breathtaking beauty never failed to hold Rio’s attention for one last, lingering gaze before he padded over to the narrow crevice behind the thorny shrub. He slipped between the rocks and headed into the main corridor. His eyes dilated as he moved deeper into the rock structure. He could feel its pull, had felt it when he got within a mile of the valley. But here, so close to the source, his every nerve tingled. Focusing, he transformed and walked upright. Alert on a metaphysical level, he knew the moment she stepped from the elevator at the heart of the mound. He smiled in anticipation. I hope you like the snippet I shared for Elizabeth this week. Not sure why she likes this kitty so much. Everyone knows doggies make better protectors. Be sure to read the other Weekend Writing Warriors blogs and the #SnippetSunday authors for more great reads.
